Still Alive!

March6

Yes I am still  alive and kick-in. Life has been very crazy since my last post. Lets see, summer break, we moved, went back to work, holidays and more holidays, plus Ari’s first birthday. I really don’t know where the time went. Sadly, I didn’t make it to 100 cards by the end of the year. I did make it to about 60 or so which I think is great. I am still making cards out my scrap box and hope to hit 100 very soon. As soon I as I find my camera cable I will post pictures of my latest cards. So, stay tuned and have an oh so fun day!

Almost half way there.

Just a quick post to show what I have done this week. Paper crafts is holding their yearly Gallery Idol contest and yes the contest rules are much similar to American Idol. SO right now they are having open auditions, where you can submit as many thank you cards as you like. Then next week they are going to choose a top 20 to continue competing in the contest. I am still working out my scrap box, which has really pushed me to be extra creative for this contest.  If I make to the top 20 I will let you know because I will need al the votes I can get. Lets cross our fingers and I hope the judges like my work.  I also threw in two Mother’s Day cards that I made out of scraps as well. Bringing my total card count to: 48

Take a bow challenge at Caardvards

October18

Hello all and happy fall! The weather is finally starting to cool down here and the leaves are starting to change color. :)  So, far this weekend has been great, yesterday I went to the Scrap booking Expo in Sacramento. Wow, I am not really sure how else to describe the event. There was great make and takes, demos and lots a great shopping. By the end of the day my tote was packed full. I can’t wait till next year and if there is ever an expo close to you I highly recommend going, my favorite booth was the $1 embellishment booth.

Also this week I made a card for the new challenge at caardvarks.blogspot.com, for this challenge you had to use ribbon on your project. I have been eyeing this halloween paper at Michael’s and I just had to get it and make a card. The bats on the paper are actually rubbery feeling and I quilled the bat on the button.

Bat CardOn another note, I am fiannly getting my flicker account up a running. Sadly I met my limit for the month already, so I will have to wait till next month to put this card up. If you want to check out other projects I have done check out my gallery at http://www.flickr.com/photos/29915223@N07/

Caardvarks Wrap up

September27

This week was a tough one, the battle between my scrap and I was a fierce one. My scrap continued to be out of control all week, and even tried frustrate me with their size, amount and sometimes lack colors. With the help of my trusty sixxiz machine, we battled through the week together. The out come, 7 wonderful cards and a scrap drawer that now fits back in its proper place.  I think this will be a battle that will continue to rage on,  but I will remain with me as the victor, as I counting to use my scraps to make cards and other small projects. Thanks for joining me this week and thank you for all the love and comments. A big shout out to http://caardvarks.blogspot.com for hosting such a wonderful contest.

Caardvarks #7, I did it!

September26

Well, today was the last day of the challenge at http://caardvarks.blogspot.com. I was able to do all 7 sketches. Here is my take on the sketch. I will come back tomorrow and post a gallery of all 7 and chat about the battle between my scrap and I.

Pumpkins Card #7

Caardvarks #6

I can’t believe I am only one day a way from winning this battle of Kap vs scrap. Once again thanks to all my wonderful sizzix die cuts I was able to push through one more battle. For this card ,I wanted  to create something that was simple yet bold.  The sketch has the three items on the left lined up, but I think having the middle slightly off center helps all the elements stand out more.  I hope you are having a happy friday and I will see you tomorrow.

So, I am afraid this post is going to be short, it has been a long day and I hurt a muscle in my butt. I know it sounds really weird but it hurts like crazy and of course it is in a spot that is hard to stretch out.  Anyway, enough about me, lets talk cards. Once again I have tackled my scrap box and found some great Christmas paper scraps for todays card. Plus, my Sizzix machine has been such a great help in this challenge, it is always easy to find a big enough scrap make into a die cut.

I hope you find much happiness in your day.

Caardvarks day #3

September22

So, all week it has been me vs my out of control scraps. Well, today they almost won, I was sitting down trying to find paper to make todays card and everything I picked out was not the right  size.  Just when I was about to start going threw my draws of full sheets it hit me, why not adjust the size of the card to fit what scraps you have. So easy I know but, alas my simple solution gave me yet another win over my  scraps.  So, in the battle of Kap (that is what my husband calls me) vs scrap, kap won making the score 3-0. I can’t to see what awsome sketch they post tomorrow at http://caardvarks.blogspot.com

Caardvarks Depth Perception Challenge

June17

This month at caardvarks.blogspot.com they are having a depth perception contest. The idea of the contest was to create a 3d paper project. When I saw this challenge I knew right away what I was going to make, my exploding box. I got the pattern for this box from a Bo bunny kit and after making the one out of the kit I became hooked. Over the past few months I have made about 10 boxes in various themes.

When it came to this box, I wanted to make one that was very art nouveau in style yet modern and funky in color. So, I set off to Michael’s to see what I could find and they had this new paper out and not only did they have the main pattern but they had all the coordinating patterns and solids, which is very unlike Michael’s. After I collected about everything in the in the collection I headed home to create my master piece and hear it is.

So,  first you have the box, complete with a tag to put the name of who it is too. Then to see the true potential of the box, lift the lid of the top and you will see why it is called the Exploding Box.Once the lid of the box is off reveals its three layers. Each layer is different with it’s own unique design. The box contains 16 squares in all, each either creating a space for a photo, journaling, pockets for hidden massages and a beautiful center arrangement.

Wicked Princess Week 2 and 3

May7

Hello all, so I have mentioned before that I entered this seven week contest at www.wickedprincesses.com.au. Each week you have to make a layout based on one of the 7 deadly sins and plus they have a bonus card you can make  as well. For each one they give you a set of particular rules, for example, for week 2 pride, I could only use green and black, I had to use a transparence and include some doodling.  Here is what I came up with for week 2 and 3. Check back next week for my take on week 4 of the contest sloth.
